If you’re worried about the mess, set up a table and your supplies in the garage or outside. Then you can relax and enjoy the process without worrying about it ending up on the floor or in your carpet. You’ll also want to multiply the recipe based on how many slime scientists you have so everyone can take some home. After all, do you really want all that slime to stay at your house? Small jars, plastic containers, or cleaned baby food jars would work well when it comes time to store it and transport it home. Offering different colors of glitter glue and food coloring adds some variety to each person’s monster slime. Not only can the googly eyes go on the monster jar, they should definitely go in the slime to make it truly monster-like. Even better, get “real” eyeballs to add to the slime. The scarier the better! Once the slime is made, it can be stretched and pulled and manipulated into all kinds of shapes. The more you play with it, the better it gets! This activity definitely does need some adult supervision. And make sure hands are washed thoroughly once slime playtime has ended. Begin slime
Fill 1/2 cup 2/3 full with glitter glue. Fill rest of the way with Elmer’s glue.
Combine ingredients for slime mixture
Add warm water to a bowl. Combine with glue mixture using a spoon.
Add color for monster slime jars
Slowly add food coloring to glue mixture. Stir with a spoon to combine.
Add last ingredient to slime mixture
Pour liquid starch in carefully. This will help thicken the slime. Stir thoroughly with a spoon.
Finish mixing slime
Once mixed well, use your hands to continue combining ingredients. If you want thicker slime, add a bit more liquid starch.
Begin jar decoration
Paint jar lid black. Let dry, and apply a second coat.
Almost done!
Fill jar with slime.
Create hair on monster jar
Place hot glue all over the top of the jar lid and press the black strips of crinkly paper onto the lid. Shape hair any way you like.
